Tommy Bahama Very Cool

by Thomas (pardon the formatting, Dane's on vacation...)

If you’ll pardon the rant, I never cared for the concept of Tommy Bahama. The line seems geared towards the executive who spends his Saturdays in the office but wants to wear something that indicates that he is an Interesting Person and has a personality. Go back to J. Press where you belong, please.

The last time we were in Cancun, we passed a Tommy Bahama store and it smelled so nice: lemon/coconut/vanilla. Turned out to be a candle, but it was fantastic! So I had high hopes for the sample of Very Cool that came my way…

Yeah, about that. Crashing Disappointment. It was like Live Jazz, played through a kazoo. Tried to be fresh, but ended up raspy, sour, and annoying. By lunchtime I raced to L’Occitane and covered it up with their Vetyver, which made the rest of the day bearable.

So much for Tommy Bahama, but really: anyone with any sense at all would go down to the centro and pick up a guayabera, a couple of robustos or churchills, a bottle of Zacapa or El Dorado, and find a hammock. No reason for the pretense.
