Olivia Giacobetti's Thé Pour un Été solved a few problems of mine. Firstly, it takes Bvlgari's Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert, which I've always loved but found a bit too "simple", and adds some complexity. Secondly, it takes a favourite flower of mine, jasmine, and relieves it of its all-too-common indolic headiness. What you're left with is a refreshing, everyday scent.
TPuE opens with a little citrus, and the green tea accord that Jean Claude Ellena created and made famous. The natural reaction at this point is of course, "why would I pay more for this when the Bvlgari is essentially the same, but cheaper?" Then all of the sudden a light wisp of jasmine breezes in and adds a subtle, but sultry effect. As time passes, the floral element becomes more prominent and pushes the tea to the background. A simple, yet effective way of updating a classic.
As you might expect, this ain't no Amarige. An a-typical L'Artisan, TPuE is transparent, subtle, and although slightly longer-lived than its predecessor, not an all-day affair (unless you really douse it on). Either way, I'm glad to have it in my collection.

ps - thanks J!
This is such a gorgeous, cooling summer jasmine. The fresh and cool tea scent would make it a fabulous masculine as well. What a great way to cool down down during out humid Canadian summers....you smell great ;-)
